About me and my practice
Having been a professional counsellor for over a decade, I am as passionate about good mental health as the day I began my practice. My aim is to aid my clients achieve their goals and full potential in all aspects of their lives and the first step in the journey starts with being healthy in mind.
My clients range in age and
their issues vary amongst the age groups but each person or child is unique in their distress. My aim is to integrate modes of counselling to fit each individual according to their needs.
I find psychodynamic therapy helps to uncover past events which may be blocking current emotional wellbeing. Gestalt therapy can help us see the real issue, often hiding in plain sight amongst the smokescreen of what we thought was our reason for seeking therapy. Existential counselling can guide us through the anxiety of living and the dread we sometimes can feel surrounding death or the meaning of our existence.
And most importantly, whichever therapy we will experience together, my aim will always be to support you on your journey to good mental health.
Experience
I have more than a decade of experience in counselling, helping people from the age of 4 to 94 (and counting!) to navigate their journey through life.
I have spent the past decade working (and continue to do so) in primary school helping children from nursery to year 6 cope with the challenges in their lives. I have also counselled young people in secondary education and college.
On a private basis I work remotely with clients of all ages and with many issues.
During qualification for my degree I volunteered for Place2Be, working with primary and secondary school children. I also volunteered at Sunderland Counselling Services for two years, my clients being adults and young people with many and complex issues.
